# What is a Tag?

> Learn how Tags act as Touchpoint Gateways that make Experiences accessible through real-world and digital touchpoints.

A Tag is a **Touchpoint Gateway**.

After an Experience is created, it needs a way to become accessible to people in the real world. A Tag gives that Experience a digital identity and connects it to a physical or digital touchpoint.

A Tag can be attached to many kinds of touchpoints, such as products, menus, posters, shop windows, locations, billboards, webpages, packaging, or campaigns.

Each Tag can have its own digital address, making the connected Experience accessible through QR codes, links, NFC, URI, MCP, or other access methods.

In simple terms:

* the **Experience** is what people interact with
* the **Tag** is how they reach it
